Who We Are
Londonderry Pony Club is one of more than 270 clubs that are part of the Pony Club New South Wales Association. We are among eight clubs that make up Zone 19, which is part of Area 1. Our fellow Zone 19 clubs are Megalong Valley, Sun Valley, Epona, Hawkesbury Valley, Kurrajong, Blacktown and Nepean. In 2024 we celebrated our 50th Anniversary!
Our members range from three year olds on lead, to experienced, competitive riders up to 25 years of age.
Riders under 17 years of age must join the club with a parent/guardian, who is required to be on the grounds at all times with the rider.

Rally Days
Pony Club rally days are held on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of every month (February – November), even through the school holidays (except Christmas holidays and public holidays). Daylight Savings Time; 8:30am Line Up, 9:00am Start, 2:00pm Finish Non Daylight Savings Time; 9:30am Line Up, 10:00am Start, 3:00pm Finish
Each Rally Day begins with a gear check before riders hop on their ponies. All riders walk their ponies (unmounted) to their respective colour group cone for line up, gear check and riders' briefing. Troop Line times differ depending if it is daylight savings time or not, as shown above. It is important to be on time, as you need to hear all announcements, upcoming competition details or any rule changes that may impact your safety.
In the afternoon, we stop for a one hour lunch break where the canteen will be well underway with BBQ lunches, hot chips and snacks. Beginner riders are free to leave at this time, as no beginner sessions are held after lunch. After lunch transition and open riders commence their afternoon session.
There are many activities that riders may participate in during a Rally Day including Flat Work, Dressage, Show Jumping, Sporting, Mounted Games, Cross Country, Polocrosse, Horsemanship and more. Riders are coached by accredited and knowledgeable Pony Club instructors (volunteers) and are grouped according to experience and age.

Competition
In addition to the fun riders have at Pony Club Rally Days, there are tons of other activities that they can participate in. These include specialist clinics, training days, camps and competition at a club, zone, area, royal, state, national and international level. Londonderry Pony Club is well regarded as one of the most competitive clubs in the region, having supported many of our riders to represent Australia in International Competition, numerous riders to represent NSW in National Championships as well as many riders to State Championships across all disciplines offered. We are all about our local and club/zone level events though too! Team LPC often creates a "sea of green" with a strong comradery and mateship shared at our club events, zone events and various AG show across the state.

Volunteers
As with most organisations, volunteers are the backbone of Pony Club and we couldn't give our riders the fantastic opportunities they have without them.
While we appreciate the effort required to prepare kids and ponies, there are many jobs that need be carried out in order to run a Rally Day or other Pony Club event. Please have a think about how you may be able to contribute, we promise, your offer to help will be much appreciated! Some of the tasks necessary include, making a cake or slice to sell in the canteen, helping serve in the canteen, helping prepare bread and salad for lunch, taking drinks out to riders and washing cups up afterwards, cooking the bbq, setting out and packing up equipment, assisting instructors.
